  2. Video game giveaway!

Hey all! So I just bought a humble bundle weekly sale and there were 2 games + their DLC that I already own. I figured i would give them away instead of letting em just sit around and not get used. I will be giving away both games together.

The games are:                                                                              Dungeons of Dredmor Complete                                                             and The Binding of Isaac + Wrath of the Lamb DLC

Both of these games a great roguelikes.

To be eligible to win both of these games all you have to do is reblog this post and send me the link to the reblogged post along with the name of your favorite video game through either fan mail or an ask.

There is no need to follow me and likes do not count, but they are both very appreciated.

This giveaway will close in 1 week on Sat the 1st of Feb at 12pm, and I will do the drawing that night.

    Thanks everyone! :D

Sooooo this was my craft purchase of the day and probably the only one for the next couple of months haha!
I bought 107 skeins of dmc floss for 34$. Acmoore had a 10$ off of 40$ coupon so i figured why not save a bunch and get all my colors(sadly they were out of 2 of em) needed for my pokemon cross stitch. Wound up coming out to like $0.31 a skein or so i think.
I also bought a ton of bobbins and a winder to help speed up the oh so joyful process of bobbin winding lol.
Overall im very happy and super excited to use em. I also have another $11 out of my xmas gift my girlfriend gave me for buying crafts!
Also yes that is the receipt from the floss purchase. The cashier nearly crapped her pants when i plopped the cart onto the counter.

I wish I still had the picture, but I went to Michaels one day and bought EVERY color of DMC floss that I didn’t already possess.  I hit the limit on the length the receipt could be and they needed to start a second one for the whole order.  The first receipt was taller than I was (5’ 3”).
Side note - I ADORE the DMC stitchbow line of products.  I bought the holders and the binder inserts online, as well as a 3, 5-inch binders from Staples.  No time needed to spend winding bobbins.  It’s probably more expensive, but I like to think that it helps me come out ahead in the dollars spent versus time spent ratio.

Yeah they are quite a bit more expensive. I dont mind taking the time all that much. Im super frugal so i spend as little money as i can haha.

  5. Cross stitch apps

Does anyone know of any good cross stitch apps either for ipad or android?

Im specifically looking for a good inventory app for my threads that i can use to keep track of what i have and what i need as well. Also looking for the app to be able to show me a shopping list of the threads i need if possible.

Feel free to suggest any apps that you feel are handy though.

  9. ohcrackerjacks asked: Hi! I was wanting to ask for some advice in some cross stitching things! I adore the KH patterns in the link that you posted and I've actually been looking for some like them for a while, but I am totally dreadful with picking out colors on my own. Do you have any advice or tips on how to identify the colors? Is there an online program to use perhaps?

    popstitches:

Man, I feel like such a pro getting asked for advice! No, I’m totally with you. Picking out colors is the worst. It has the potential to be fun, but usually I end up staring at colors until literally every color looks the same, then I buy way more colors than I need.

Usually, I have the pattern saved on my phone and I’ll zoom in and physically put the color next to what I’m trying to match, then match lighter and darker from that starting point. I have the app StitchSketchLE and I know if you buy it for $8, you can trace images and use a DMC specific color pallet (as well as others). You could always combine the tools to get the exacts for what you need. You can get it on iPhone and iPad, but I’m not sure about android. I don’t know of other programs, but there’s surely got to be.

    Hope this helps!

I personally use stoik stitch creator 4.
    http://stoik.com/products/hobby/STOIK-Stitch-Creator

Its the absolute best cross stitch pattern program i have used. I tried that kg program and pc stitch and they are both pretty awful. Kg is horrid at picking colors and the colors look completely different on the computer than irl. Pc stitch is better at the colors but bad at automatically making a pattern from a picture.

But what i do for buying my thread is i make my pattern in stoik and then print the color key and bring that to the store so i get the exact colors i need and can check them off when i grab them. That way if something is out of stock i leave it unchecked and know what to look for next time i go. Granted when a project has like 30+ colors im buying all at once i tend to miss one or grab the wrong color sometimes lol. But whatever its just thread i wont have to buy for another project.

  13. popstitches:

I want to make pillows and other cool things with my cross stitches other than just framing them. Anyone got any cool places or ideas?

Pillows dont seem too hard. Saw a tutorial on how to do one in a magazine yesterday. The most difficult part in my opinion would be getting the folding done right.

I also just googled it for you and found this http://www.needlepoint-for-fun.com/needlepoint-pillow-backing.htm.
Theres also a lot of other sites with tutorials i saw for making pillows.
